The Older They Get, The Better They Play!

Why I Love the Yamaha Pacifica Guitar

Article by Heart Music

I have been playing guitar for the past 7 years and in that time I have owned quite a number of guitars, expensive and cheap, old and new. I am also an avid player of the acoustic guitar, owning both steel stung and nylon strung guitars. What can I say? I love playing music!

My all time favourite guitar however is the brilliant Yamaha Pacifica. This model is essentially an intermediate player's guitar at an entry level market price.

Well constructed with a solid build, the Yamaha Pacifica is not a heavy guitar but it feels about the right size and weight to play standing up comfortably. The machine heads are solid chrome, with a maple neck and rosewood fret board. This guitar is a thing of beauty.Yamaha is known for quality in everything it does, and guitars are no exception. The brand has built itself up over the years as a no-nonsense producer of solid consumer products.

I used to play the Pacifica some years ago when I was in a band; hooking this guitar up to a PA system and running it through a distortion pedal created some amazing sounds. Surprisingly even cheaper amps still sounded pretty sharp, making the Pacifica a very robust choice of guitar and quite a lot better than many higher priced, more sought after names. When playing, full chords can sound a little rough (probably due to the sound system) but powerchords remain clean and any lead work sounds incredible (especially if you can play really well!)

Unfortunately I traded my Pacifica in for an expensive acoustic guitar which I could not afford to buy outright at the time. I don't regret this decision but I do miss the Pacifica as it was undoubtedly the best electric guitar I ever owned!
