Vintage Guild Guitars
The company behind vintage Guild guitars is well known. In fact, the company has been around for some time. The company was started out in New York city and they provide all manner of top quality guitars. They have made solid body guitars, Spanish guitars, and even Hawaiian electric guitars, and more. They first announced their company back in 1953 in an issue of the magazine, Musical Merchandise Magazine. It was just a small ad that first appeared, but they were definitely a company that went beyond this very small ad in the beginning.
It was with this small announcement that this company began to rise in the business, going form just a small workshop to one of the top guitar makers and today their vintage Guild guitars are definitely sought after all over the world. It was Mr. Guild and his friend George Mann who started up this guitar company and another of their friends suggested that they use the name guild.
When they sent out their very first pricelist and catalog back in 1954, they actually referred to their vintage Guild guitars as “The Stradivari of Guitars.” This definitely was quite an aspiration and many wondered if they could actually live up to this. They had a selection of acoustic guitars that were flat tops and electric guitars with arch tops. Later there would go on to add arch top acoustic guitars to their line of guitars.
Their sales definitely started to grow and the company began to get bigger. They went from the work shop to a new building that was a factory located in Hoboken, New Jersey. During the 50s and the 60s, the guitars would continue to do well. While they first dealt in most jazz guitars, they began to rise in popularity and they had a great reputation and some of their instruments were eventually played by some of the top guitarists in music. Just a few of the big names that have played these guitars include Roy Orbison, Buddy Guy, Paul Simon, Steven Miller, Bonnie Raitt, George Strait, Doc Watson, George Benson, Eric Clapton, Merle Travis, and even Keith Richards.
Vintage Guild guitars are known for their acoustic excellence. They are well crafted and provide excellent sound as well when they are played. All through the years they have continued to provide exceptional guitars, which is why they are still popular today. If you can get your hands on one of these vintage Guild guitars, it is definitely worth the money that you will pay to have one of your own.
