The Older They Get, The Better They Play!

Learning Guitar-The Pitfalls and Solutions

Article by Jim Dunlop

Something every guitar enthusiast would benefit from

Learning how to play guitar is at first frustrating to say the least. When I began to play I almost gave up numerous times. Of course trying to learn on your own is difficult. The books out there on learning guitar can teach you so much, but as usual it is up to you to put it into practice. Many people who begin to learn have a real passion for music but fail because they give up too soon; as I have seen many friends give up after 2 to 3 months.

Taking guitar lessons is the obvious choice for any beginner and I am sorry I didnt when I was starting out. I would have learned how to read music (I can't) and other techniques invaluable to any guitar player. Instead I did it the hard way, geared with an outdated tutorial book and my Suzuki electro acoustic guitar. It took me along time to master the basic chords and as for picking, well that took me a lot longer. I have since moved onto electric guitar and still enjoy acoustic playing. Of course guitar tutorial material have become more advanced in recent years and now it is possible to learn from the comfort of your own home without forking out for expensive lessons. One such resource is Jamorama. I recently came across Jamorama which has been around for a while and enjoyed great success with their "Jamorama" the Ultimate Guitar Learning Kit.

Jamorama! is software designed to show you how to play popular tunes on your guitar. As a beginner you will be taken through all the steps required to start strumming, muting and bending, before learning how to read music and transcribing, and all this at an accelerated rate.

Apart from having reading material to work from, Jamorama now has 148 video examples and exercises allowing you to see and hear exactly what to do.Additional programs are included that give the student the ability to train their ear to recognize and transcribe songs from the radio.

Another vital feature of the package is the, How to tune your guitar e-book, which introduces the reader to the most effective way to tune your guitar. Advanced Learning Techniques for Guitar" is another e-book which shows how mental visualization is a powerful tool in speeding up the rate of learning.

Included are:- JaydeMusica Pro

- GuitEarIt

- Advanced Learning Techniques for Guitar

- Guitar Tuner Pro and How to Tune Your Guitar

- The Jamorama Metronome

- 148 video tutorials

- 26 Jam Tracks

Jamorama teaches guitar fluency and teaches you how to use your ear to play virtually any guitar song that you hear. It uses well known songs to guide your learning right from the start and each song is very easy for you to learn by breaking them down into small parts, so you can practice each part individually and then put it all together. You're going to save time, money, and aggravation when you learn to play guitar with Jamorama. Practice when you want. Go as fast or as slow as you need. You'll learn to avoid the mistakes that you've been making. I only wish this was around when I was first learning to play guitar, I am sure I would be a lot faster on the fret board by now. I would recommend Jamorama to anyone starting out playing guitar or for someone wanting to brush up on their skills. However good old fashioned one on one music lessons are still a popular and effective method of learning the guitar.
